Soldiers Memorial Military Museum

Soldiers Memorial Military Museum

The Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, located in the city of St. Louis Missouri, was officially opened on Memorial Day, 1938. It is a memorial constructed to honor the fallen St. Louis soldiers of World War I. The names of the 1,075 soldiers are inscribed on a cenotaph inside the memorial. Two museums within the memorial contain military-related objects from all wars that the US has been involved in during the 20th and 21st centuries such as uniforms, flags, photographs and memorabilia.

The Missouri Historical Society took over the maintaining of the Soldiers Memorial and after an extensive renovation of the Museum and Plaza, the Memorial reopened in November 2018. The Missouri Historical Society also operates and curates the Missouri History Museum and the Library & Research Center.

The museum is free to the public and is open Wednesday-Sunday, 10am-5pm. Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. See website for more information.
