Dance St. Louis is located in the Grand Center Arts District and is a "dance presenting" company, as well as a not-for-profit organization. They have been bringing dance from around the globe to St. Louis since 1966 and its mission is to "provide the St. Louis region with the world's best dance and to develop an appreciation of dance as an art form". Dance St. Louis does offer master dance classes for experienced dancers in combination with their performances.
Dance St. Louis strives to produce a variety of dance performances, including classical ballet, modern dance, and traditional dance. Some of the performances that Dance St. Louis has brought to the area are such noted shows as STOMP, Riverdance, Kirov Ballet, Pilobolus, Tap Dogs, Dance Theatre of Harlem and many more. Performances are held at various venues around the St. Louis area such as the Fox Theatre, the Edison Theatre on the campus of Washington University, and the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Dance St. Louis also produces a number of educational and outreach programs for local dancers and students, as well.
